The Best Audio Books on Audible!

the before now and after then paperback 3d_peter monnI am literally obsessed with Audible.  I became a member about a year ago when a YouTuber reviewed it as one of their favorite things of the month.  Since that day, I constantly have a book playing in my car anytime I’m driving around town.  Late at night I drive around and listen to books, sometimes not even wanting to go to bed because I’m so engrossed in the stories.  Not only do I love listening to the audio books, which allows me to listen to a book while at home I’m reading a book, making it easier for me to read more books from my list of “want to reads”, but I also love following the narrators, who in the world of audio books have a fandom of their own.  I listen to some books specifically for the narrator.  All of this being said, you can probably imagine my excitement when I found out that my book The Before Now and After Then was being made into an audio book.  Not only would I be able to listen to in audio form, my very own book, but I got to be part of the development process myself, auditioning the narrators and picking out who was my favorite.   This week my book went live on Audible! For two days I drove around listening to it, even though I had edited it and listened to it before, filled with excitement.  It started making me think about some of my favorite books I’ve listened to in the last year and so I thought I’d compile a list of my favorite reads…or,listens! Also, if you’ve been thinking about trying Audible, your first month is free and your first download is free.  It’s super easy, so go check it out and listen to my book The Before Now and After Then for your first free download! (It would truly make my day!) Check out my list of favorites below!

Peter’s Truly Honest Reviews

**This is NOT a sales pitch for me to sell you my blogging and social media skills! Trust that!

I am the king of blogs.  Actually, scratch that.  I am the king of starting blogs.  Eight years ago I was first introduced to blogging and since that time I’ve started and ran 10 blogs.  I’ve had several personal blogs, a blog for my dog, lifestyle and fashion blogs and the men’s lifestyle and celebrity interview magazine, raannt.com, that my husband and I started together six and a half years ago.  I’ve helped tons of people start blogs and other forms of social media, including Facebook pages and Twitter accounts and I still help people out on a regular basis, although at this time I’m charging for those services.  (Sorry folks!) And NO! This is not a sales pitch.  I just love to blog and set up social media accounts.  That being said, it should surprise no one, especially my husband Alex who gets tired of my constant light bulb moments when ideas scatter through my mind with no foreseeable actualization, that I have a new idea for a blog!

I Can’t Go Back, Or Can I?…The Real Purpose of Blogging

peter-monn

On July 28th 2008, almost seven years to the day, I started my very first blog which I titled Suicide Birds and Seahorses.  I still like that title and it actually has relevance to me seven years later.  A lot has changed since I wrote those first words.  In fact, at the time, I had no idea what blogging really was or the impact that it could have on others or myself.  Since then I’ve had several different blogs, a website and written a book.  It’s been a long road and like I said in that very first post, quoting Thelma and Louise, I just can’t go back.  Although at my core I’m essentially the same person inside, a lot has changed and I’m not the same person today.  That’s a good thing, but it also means that an era of my life has faded away.

Now Writing Book Reviews!

book reviews_peter monn

Recently, I’ve found myself trying to decide what book I’m going to read next based on reviews I read either on Goodreads or on reviews made by book bloggers.  I had always said that as an author I would never post book reviews, feeling that my writing was best served on the other side, but I think that it’s time that I put my two cents into the equation, especially as an author.
